BLTA Announce 2021 Bermuda Davis Cup Team
Tariq Simons, Trey Mallory, Gavin Manders and James Finnigan will make up Bermuda’s Americas Group III Davis Cup Team, the Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association [BLTA] announced.
A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Lawn Tennis Association [BLTA] is proud to announce the 2021 Americas Group III Davis Cup Team of Tariq Simons, Trey Mallory, veteran Gavin Manders and newest member James Finnigan.
“Along with coach and National Tennis Director, Ricky Mallory, the team will be traveling to participate in the prestigious Davis Cup taking place in Panama City, Panama on June 28th, at the Estadio Nacional de Tennis.”
National Tennis Director Mallory who has been working with a National Training squad of approximately fourteen players since last summer said; “I am very pleased with the final four players selected to represent Bermuda this year.
“Unfortunately, the players did not get to participate last year due to the cancellation of the competition related to COVID. The entire team is excited to finally be back playing international competition.”
BLTA president, Mike Wolfe said; “The BLTA is very pleased for the resumption of this event. It certainly has been a difficult period for everyone and although the event will be held under strict Covid guidelines the players are ready for the challenge ahead.”
