BFA: Squad For Gold Cup Preliminary Round

The Bermuda Football Association announced the traveling squad for the upcoming Concacaf Gold Cup Preliminary Round next month, with Dante Leverock, Zeiko Lewis and Nahki Wells among those named to the team.

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Football Association is proud to announce the traveling squad for the upcoming Concacaf Gold Cup Preliminary Round. The 23-player squad travels to Florida on Saturday, June 26th for a training match prior to their Concacaf Gold Cup Preliminary Round match.

“Bermuda will play Barbados on Friday, July 2, 2021, at 8:00pm at the DRV PNK Stadium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The winner of the match will play the winner of the match between Haiti and St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the second round of the Preliminary Round. The second-round winner will advance to Group B of the Concacaf Gold Cup with USA, Canada, and Martinique.

“The match between Bermuda and Barbados will be broadcast at 8:00pm BDA time [7:00pm E.T.] on Fox Sports 2, FUBO TV, and Vidgo. Also, the match will be broadcast on Sling Blue and HULU + Live TV for US audiences.

    It appears that our foreign based players have concluded that participation in the Gold Cup is more important than our World Cup qualifiers. This bizarre and totally unacceptable behavior is only made worse by what appears to be support from our coaches and the FA.,
