Covid: 0 New Cases, 5 Active, 1 In Hospital

The Ministry received 1607 test results and zero were positive for Covid-19, and there are currently five active cases with one person in the hospital.

A Government spokesperson said, “The Ministry of Health received 1607 test results since the last update, and zero were positive for Covid-19. This gives a test positivity rate of 0.0%.

“Additionally, there were no recoveries and no deaths.

“There are currently five active cases, of which;

  • Four are under public health monitoring and;
  • One is in the hospital.

“Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 2499 total confirmed cases of Covid-19; out of those, 2461 persons have recovered, and sadly, there were 33 Covid-related deaths.

“The source of all cases is as follows:

  • 308 are Imported
  • 2189 are classified as local transmission of which:
    • 1682 are Local Transmission with known contact/source and
    • 507 are Local Transmission with an unknown contact/source
  • 2 are Under Investigation

“As investigations proceed, transmission categories may change. The seven-day average of our real-time reproduction number is less than one [1].

“Bermuda’s current WHO country status remains “Community Transmission”. Bermuda’s WHO country status is due to be changed to “Sporadic Cases” on June 21 2021, provided that the epidemiological situation continues to meet the criteria i.e. that detected cases remain imported, or sporadic or linked to imported/sporadic cases, and there are no clear signals of further locally acquired transmission. Bermuda’s PAHO country status is Sporadic Cases.

“As almost all of our current Covid restrictions will end on Sunday, June 20, I want to remind everyone to visit gov.bm for details on the new regulations and revised exemptions,” said Minister of Health Kim Wilson.

“I have received numerous calls and emails from people with questions. Unfortunately, I have not had the time to answer everyone. However, the information is on the Government portal, and I invite people to go there for the details or call the Covid-19 Helpline on 444-2498.”

“As of Monday, June 21 2021, Covid-19 tests will no longer be offered at the Star of India location in Dockyard. The new test site will be the old AS Cooper shop in the Clocktower Mall in Dockyard.”

“The testing schedule will remain the same: Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 3 pm. For more information about Covid-19 test sites and services, visit gov.bm, coronavirus, get tested.”

“We are not out of the woods yet,” added Minister Wilson. “A face mask is a crucial preventive measure when it comes to slowing the spread of the coronavirus.

“Therefore, we must continue to wear a mask indoors, primarily when not eating or drinking. Check gov.bm for the public health guidance which applies to your activity or business. Also, don’t forget to avoid the three “Cs”: closed spaces, crowded places and close contact settings.”

“Each of us has a role to play in stopping the spread of the coronavirus. Follow Public Health guidelines, wear a mask, practice good hand hygiene, maintain physical distance and download the WeHealth Bermuda app. Do the research, talk with your doctor and make an informed decision about getting the Covid-19 vaccine. There is a wealth of information about the vaccines online at gov.bm.

“Beginning June 22, 2021, the Ministry of Health will issue Covid-19 Update press releases on Tuesdays and Fridays only.”

    With only 5 active cases can we get our London and European offices to ensure Bermuda is placed on the UK and European green list?

    That is, if they’re not too busy doing whatever it is they do for their hundreds of thousands of dollars its costing us.
