July 5, 2021

Age Concern Bermuda [ACB] – Registered Charity #137 –  is currently recruiting individuals for the Board of Directors and Board Committees.

A spokesperson said, “The mission of ACB is to enhance the quality of life and advance the rights and opportunities of older adults in Bermuda. Age Concern was established in 1978 as a result of a Bermuda Government commissioned report that recommended that a group of individuals advise the Government on issues that affect the senior population. Today the focus is on meeting the present and future socio-economic requirements of an ever-growing, ageing population.

“Today, ACB is an independent, non-profit organization with a member program of more than 5000 people over the age of 50 years.

“In addition to a strong advocacy focus, ACB provides a variety of programs and services that include informational workshops, advice, hardship support and referral services. ACB members also enjoy access to a wide range of member-related discounts, concessions, and social events.

“ACB is governed by a diverse group of dedicated Directors who volunteer their time and expertise. The Board’s work is supported by volunteer Board committees that include, Governance, Finance, Audit & Risk, Fund Development and Membership, as well as ad hoc subcommittees, which work on projects as required. ACB is committed to Board level succession planning to enable continuous improvement of our organization, through Board experience and activities.

“The ACB Board is inviting applications from members of the community who wish to volunteer their time and expertise to contributed to the important work of ACB. The Board wishes to recruit individuals whose experience, knowledge and leadership skills provide a balanced, wide ranging cross-section of disciplines and abilities: including, but not limited to business, finance, human resources, legal, health, communications, and fundraising.
