July 8, 2021

Following the conclusion of the 2021 Gold Cup Preliminary Round, Concacaf has put together the “five moments that stood out the most” with Bermuda’s Nahki Wells included in the list after recording the fastest goal in Gold Cup history, scoring in only 17 seconds during the first match against Barbados.

Nahki Wells scores in 17 seconds

The Concacaf website said, “The 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup Prelims produced a number of memorable moments from the eight matches played, but these are the five moments that stood out the most.

“While Bermuda’s bid to reach a Gold Cup group stage for the second consecutive time came up just short in a 4-1 loss to Haiti in Tuesday’s Second Round, FW Nahki Wells made some history for the Gombey Warriors in their 8-1 win over Barbados in the first round.

“Wells scored just 17 seconds into the match, making it the fastest goal in Gold Cup history. Wells would go on to notch a hat trick against the Bajan Tridents and finish the Prelims with four goals.“
