Mirrors Honours Volunteers & Service Partners

The Mirrors Programme, Mirrors Alumni and Friends Association, and Burrows Lightbourn Ltd. recently held a Volunteer Appreciation and Awards Ceremony at Masterworks to honour over 70 volunteers who “gave their time and services to support Bermuda’s youth during the year with the Mirrors Programme.”

A Government spokesperson said, “The Hon. Kathy Lynn Simmons, JP, MP, Attorney-General, and Minister of Legal Affairs and Constitutional Reform, expressed her gratitude for the commitment, dedication and hard work of over 70 volunteers who gave their time and services to support Bermuda’s youth during the year with the Mirrors Programme. The volunteers were acknowledged at the Volunteer Appreciation and Awards Ceremony hosted by Mirrors Alumni and Friends Association and Burrows Lightbourn Ltd. at Masterworks last month.

“The Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports, the Hon. Ernest Peets, JP, attended the event on behalf of Minister Simmons and said the evening was the opportunity to celebrate their volunteerism and commitment to the success of Bermuda’s youth. He also stated, “Over the past year, when we experienced the physical, emotional, mental and financial effects of the pandemic, you leaned in to support others. Thank you for caring and not just feeling or thinking about it but doing something about it”. He went on to state, “You have given selflessly of two of the most precious resources- yourselves and your time.

“Today, I want you to know how much your dedication is appreciated. Whether you are a long-time volunteer or if you got involved recently, it’s important for you to know that you have made a difference in transforming our youth, and we are forever grateful”.

“Annually, Mirrors host a ceremony to acknowledge every volunteer and service partners and highlight those who go beyond their commitment to ensuring its mission is achieved. Each year, the Mirrors Programmes receives support from community members who work with the team to produce successful programmes.

“The following volunteers were highlighted for the 2020-21 programming cycle:

  • Mirrors Volunteer of the Year Award – Kim Greene
  • Mirrors Alumni and Friends Association Outstanding Board Member Award – John Perinchief
  • Special Honoree – Customer Service Award [volunteer receptionist] Sahrika DeSilva
  • Special Honoree – Creation of a Mirrors branded song – Patricia Ann O’Connor
  • Special Honoree – Photography and videography support for presentations – Eric Woods
  • Special Honoree – Long Term Service Award – Nathan Darrell
  • Mirrors Transformation Through Coaching Awards – Antoine Lightbourne, Cerepha Bridgeman, David Stubbs, Pamela Blackwood and Patrice Brown
  • Stakeholder of the Year Award- Burrows Lightbourn Ltd.
  • Special mention certificates are awarded to individuals that completed between 3 and 4 volunteer roles with Mirrors – David Stubbs, Lakray DeGrilla, Meishka Zuill, Pamela Blackwood and Samaria Pitt
  • Bronze Level pining was provided to volunteers that have completed between 5 and 6 volunteer roles with Mirrors. – Delores Thompson and Tracey Wilkinson
