A Back-to-School Giveaway will be held on Sunday, August 30, at Death Valley Playground in Southampton, with more than 600 backpacks set to be distributed to Bermuda students.

A spokesperson said, “The Mirrors Programme, in partnership with the Bermuda Community Outreach Foundation [BCOF], is proud to announce the return of the Third Annual Back-to-School Giveaway, taking place at Death Valley Playground, Southampton, on Sunday, August 30, 2026.

“Now in its third year, the annual initiative continues to grow, reflecting the power of community partnerships and youth leadership. Since launching in 2024, the giveaway has distributed 384 backpacks to Bermuda’s students. This year’s event will see that total increase to more than 600 backpacks distributed, representing another significant investment in Bermuda’s young people and their families.

“This year also marks an exciting new chapter as The Mirrors Programme takes the lead in coordinating the initiative, working alongside BCOF to further expand its reach and community impact.

“This partnership will allow the event to expand significantly, creating an even more engaging and family-friendly experience. In addition to providing backpacks and school supplies, families can look forward to community activities, refreshments, and entertainment designed to celebrate the beginning of another successful school year.”

Kimberley Jackson, The Mirrors Programme Manager said, “We are incredibly proud to partner once again with the Bermuda Community Outreach Foundation for this important initiative. Preparing students for success extends far beyond providing school supplies. It is about investing in confidence, creating opportunity, and demonstrating to young people that their community believes in them. We are excited to continue building on the success of this initiative and look forward to welcoming families for another memorable community event.”

A spokesperson added, “Parents and guardians are encouraged to reserve a backpack in advance by completing the registration form here. Backpacks are available while supplies last and advance registration is strongly encouraged.”
