Antigen Tests Can Be Imported For Personal Use

September 17, 2021

“Antigen tests can now be imported for personal use,” the Government advised this evening, adding “the public can use antigen kits for personal use to empower themselves [whether vaccinated or not] to protect vulnerable persons in their midst, for example, before visiting an elderly relative or before attending a social gathering.”

A spokesperson said, “Antigen tests can now be imported for personal use. The policy was reviewed and adjusted by the Ministry of Health this week.

“However, it is important to note that there are many fake antigen tests on the market, so the Department of Health will maintain, in collaboration with HM Customs, an oversight role to check and protect importers from fake goods.

“Antigen tests are a rapid screening tool, and a positive antigen result should be followed up immediately with a confirmatory test by PCR. Antigen tests cannot be used to second-guess public health instructions to quarantine or isolate. Public Health tests are based on PCR test results or a risk assessments by the Ministry of Health Officers.

“It is hoped that the public can use antigen kits for personal use to empower themselves [whether vaccinated or not] to protect vulnerable persons in their midst, for example, before visiting an elderly relative or before attending a social gathering with loved ones.”

  1. Wow says:

Oh, ok, so now after 1000+ cases and 38 deaths, the govt is finally letting us take control of protecting ourselves and our loved ones??

You guys are heros, thank you so much for allowing us to take our own personal health and safety into our own grown up hands now.

    • Itan Gast says:

You always had the means to “take control of protecting” yourself and loved ones. Socially distance, wear mask, practice good hand hygiene, get vaccinated.

  2. Unbelievable says:

This is a bad idea. People will think this the limit of their responsibility.

“Antigen test says I’m ok. No need for any other testing.”

    • Casie says:

The test doesn’t protect you. It merely will tell you if you’re positive or negative. The only thing that protects you is proper hygiene and wearing surgical or N-95 masks and keeping your social distance but sadly many don’t follow these very simple basic steps.

      • Itan Gast says:

        Exactly!

      • Unbelievable says:

Yes I understand that but if has a positive result, only they will know unless choose to share it with someone. To me that feels like it may allow for abuse. I can take that test and test positive but be tempted to go the store.
With the many examples of irresponsibility this year already, I can see ppl not following the rules.

  3. WorkingMom says:

Can the Gvt provide the public with a list of approved Antigen tests?

    • Dunn juice says:

They can’t even tell you the name of the person they gave 800k to , your want a technical answer

    • Question says:

They don’t have that answer in front of them right now.

  4. Lololol says:

    That makes too much sense!!!

Here is a list of FDA approved (might help) https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/coronavirus-disease-2019-covid-19-emergency-use-authorizations-medical-devices/in-vitro-diagnostics-euas-antigen-diagnostic-tests-sars-cov-2

Good luck finding them though, US approved for use as well and everywhere is sold out..
