BWS: Tuesday Evening Hurricane Larry Update
“The strongest winds are expected to affect the eastern marine area on Thursday as Larry passes as a category 2 hurricane,” the Bermuda Weather Service said this evening [Sept 7].
At 6.30pm today, the BWS said, “Major Hurricane Larry is about 620nm to the southeast of Bermuda, moving northwesterly at 8 knots. A Tropical Storm Watch was issued earlier today, and we continue to closely monitor the forecast as we may need to upgrade to a Tropical Storm Warning.
“The strongest winds are expected to affect the eastern marine area on Thursday as Larry passes as a category 2 hurricane. The closest point of approach is expected to be Thursday afternoon about 170 nm to our east-northeast.
“Large swells will continue to build from the southeast through Thursday, creating hazardous conditions especially for east-facing and south-facing beaches. Stay up to date with the latest forecast information on www.weather.bm
