Football: Nia Christopher Wins Another Award
Nia Christopher — who scored four goals in a week for Towson University – has been selected as the College Soccer News [CSN] Women’s National Player of the Week, marking the second award the Bermudian footballer has won this week.
The school’s announcement said, “Nia Christopher has earned another honor for her tremendous performance, being selected as the College Soccer News [CSN] Women’s National Player of the Week.
“The member of the Bermuda National Team is coming off a week where she scored four goals in two games for Towson, including a hat trick and golden goal at Mount St. Mary’s on Sunday. She also had the late insurance goal to secure Towson’s win over Temple.
“Christopher was already selected as the Colonial Athletic Association [CAA] Offensive Player of the Week yesterday plus was named to the CSN Team of the Week.
“Her performance helped Towson earn two victories last week as the Tigers defeated Temple 2-0 and Mount St. Mary’s 3-2 [OT]. The Tigers stand at 3-1-2 overall after six games, being undefeated in their last three contests.
“On the year, the sophomore forward has scored six goals on the season to lead the CAA, averaging a goal per game.
“CSN was established in 2000, providing weekly analysis and more for college soccer teams across the country.”
