Bermuda’s Nahki Wells scored four times for the Bristol City U23 team as they played to a 6 – 2 victory over Hull City U23.

The club’s match report said, “Nahki Wells scored four times as City Under-23s ran out comfortable 6-2 winners against Hull City, making it three wins from three in the Professional Development League.

“Saikou Janneh and Sam Bell were also on the scoresheet for the young Robins, despite Nathaniel Williams being shown an early red card, while Joe Williams completed an hour as he continues his return to full fitness.

“It was an intense affair from the first whistle and as early as the second minute, City found themselves on the back foot. Williams brought down a Hull trialist inside the area, leaving the referee no option but to award a penalty and show the defender a straight red card.

“Up stepped Mcauley Snelgrove and he made no mistake from the spot as he gave the visitors the lead.

“City responded well though, and were level after 13 minutes. Janneh released Bell, whose cross found Wells at the back post and he showed great composure in bringing the ball down and rifling home.

“And it didn’t take long for Wells to get his second of the afternoon as he latched on to Max O’Leary’s long free kick, before lobbing the keeper to put City in front.

“As the first-half drew to a close, the hosts added to their advantage. Wells reclaimed possession, laid it off to Kasey Palmer who picked out Janneh with a perfectly weighted through ball, and he coolly finished into the bottom corner.

“The young Robins started the second period with real menace and their efforts were rewarded after 30 seconds when Williams burst forward with the ball and found Wells, who secured his hat-trick.

“The Tigers did manage to pull a goal back on the hour mark through Henry Curtis, but City made sure there would be no dramatic comeback at Ashton Gate.

“Wells made it five on the 68th-minute, slotting home a delightful ball from second-half substitute Josh Owers, before Bell took advantage of a napping Hull defence as he tapped in Janneh’s cross at the far post to round off a convincing performance.”

The Bermudian footballer is not under 23, however the clubs are allowed to field a limited number of over age players in their matches.
