Matteo Cervino Wins O’pen Skiff In Italy
16-year-old Bermudian Matteo Cervino won the U17 O’pen Skiff FIV Zone II Championship, a two day event hosted by Club Velico Trasimeno in Umbria, Italy.
A spokesperson said, “Ending the season with a bang, 16-year-old Matteo Cervino clenched the U17 O’pen Skiff FIV Zone II Championship. The first day of racing was cancelled due to 35 knot winds, and the second day saw winds varying from 5 knots to 20 knots.
“Club Velico Trasimeno in Umbria, Italy hosted the local two day event, and Matteo managed two second place finishes and a first place to come in with a total of 5 points just ahead of the runner up who trailed him by just one point. This is Matteo’s last race in this class of boat and will jump ahead two classes into the Laser Radial in 2022.”
