Clarien Launches Holiday GiveBack Campaign
In celebration of Clarien’s 15th annual Holiday GiveBack Campaign, the bank is setting a goal to raise $15,000 to support local feeding charity Meals on Wheels.
A spokesperson said, “Running from November 22 to December 31, the Holiday GiveBack programme encourages Clarien employees, customers and the community to celebrate the season of giving by working together to support a worthwhile local charity.
“All funds raised go directly to Bermuda Meals On Wheels, an organisation which delivers hundreds of freshly-cooked, nourishing lunches across Bermuda four times a week to those unable to prepare a proper meal for themselves, such as the sick, elderly and disabled. Meals on Wheels’ home delivery service also provides a reassuring daytime check in for recipients.
“In honour of the fundraiser’s 15th Anniversary of the Holiday GiveBack Campaign, Clarien has decided to provide an added incentive for donors this year by raffling off a $250 spa gift certificate to one of those who give a minimum donation of $50.”
Michael DeCouto, Clarien’s EVP, Chief Digital & Marketing Officer, said: “It brings us great joy to be able to host this important fundraiser in support of Meals on Wheels, particularly in light of the challenges many charities on the Island are facing due to the pandemic.
“Since 2010, we’ve successfully raised more than $120,000 for Meals on Wheels and this year in honour of our 15th anniversary, we are aiming to raise $15,000 for the organisation’s important feeding programmes.”
Peter Smith, President of Meals on Wheels, said undoubtedly the biggest challenge Meals on Wheels has faced during the pandemic has been a lack of volunteers.
“The demand for our services has remained constant but we struggle to meet it simply because we do not have the number of drivers and kitchen workers that we require,” he said.
“A bright spot during the past year is that we have been able to provide our services at no cost to our clients. The demand for our services are, of course, not driven by financial needs but by physical infirmity.
Nonetheless, most if not all of our clients struggle financially and, thanks to the huge support from companies like Clarien, we have been able to eliminate all food charges which we know has been a huge assistance to our clients.”

They increase fees and make me pay to see a teller but then want to disguise this by giving back? So this is a form of tax then? WTF?
