Covid-19: 6 New, 21 Active, None In Hospital

The Ministry received 4528 test results — spanning three days — and six were positive, and active cases have now declined to 21, and for the first time in many weeks, there is no one in hospital due to Covid.

A Government spokesperson said, “Since the last update, the Ministry of Health received 4528 test results, and six were positive for the coronavirus, giving a test positivity rate of 0.1%.

“These results are from testing done on:

  • Sunday: 3 positive out of 1592 results [0.2% positivity]
  • Monday: 0 positive out of 1679 results [0.0% positivity]
  • Tuesday: 3 positive out of 1257 results [0.2% positivity]

“Three of the new cases are classified as imported with a history of travel in the previous 14 days.

“The additional three new cases are classified as either local transmission [1] or under investigation [2].

“Additionally, since the last update, there have been10 recoveries and 0 deaths.

“There are 21 active cases, of which:

  • 21 are under public health monitoring
  • 0 are in the hospital

“Since March 2020, Bermuda has recorded 5730 confirmed coronavirus cases, out of which 5603 have recovered, and sadly 106 Covid related deaths.

“The source of all active cases is as follows:

  • 10 are Imported
  • 6 are classified as local transmission
  • 5 are Under Investigation

“Active cases by vaccination status, transmission, and type:

  • Imported cases: 90% are fully vaccinated, and 10% are not vaccinated
  • Local/Under Investigation cases: 45% are fully vaccinated, and 55% are not vaccinated
  • Of the active cases where typing is available, 100% are Delta.

“The source of all confirmed cases is as follows:

  • 692 are Imported
  • 5024 are classified as local transmission of which:
    • 3077 are Local transmission with known contact/source and
    • 1947 are Local transmission with an unknown contact/source
  • 14 are Under Investigation

“As investigations proceed, transmission categories may change. For information regarding age distributions and overall transmission categories, please refer to https://www.gov.bm/coronavirus-Covid19-update.

“The seven-day average of our real-time reproduction number is 0.40. Local data shows that Bermuda is moving out of Community Transmission. Community transmission is characterised by an increased incidence of locally acquired, widely dispersed cases, with many cases not linked to specific clusters.

“We have completed week 45 of vaccinations. Since January 11th, Bermuda has administered a total of 102,468 vaccinations.

“Of the 102,468 vaccinations given as of November 20:

  • 52% are women and,
  • 48% are men

“86.5% of all residents over the age of 65 years have had at least one vaccination, and 85.3% are fully immunized.

“To date, 71.5% of the population has been vaccinated [1 dose], and  70.2% of the population has been immunized [2 doses].

“Additionally, 16.9% of the population have received a booster.

Minister of Health, Kim Wilson, JP, MP, said, “The booster vaccine is now available to anyone 18 years of age or older who has had their second Covid vaccination dose a minimum of 6 months ago. Anyone 65 and older can walk into Pier 6, Monday to Friday, for a booster.

“You can book an appointment on gov.bm by selecting ‘Book a Booster Vaccine Appointment’. Alternatively, individuals can call the Vaccination Hotline at 444-2498 [option #2] or email vaccine@gov.bm. For those who are 65 and older, they can walk into Pier 6, Monday to Friday, for a booster.”

“Avoid the three “Cs”: closed spaces, crowded places, and close contact settings to decrease the odds of getting the coronavirus.

“Each of us has a role to play in stopping the spread of the coronavirus. Follow Public Health guidelines, wear a mask indoors, practice good hand hygiene, maintain physical distance and download the WeHealth Bermuda app.”

    This is terrible news for Government. No one in hospital. What do we tell the public? Don’t want to lose that control. There’s still a pandemic so we’ll use the Emergency Powers Act to keep them under control and try and scare them. Hope no one tries to march or block the HoA. If they do we’ll do what we did last time and blame it on the police and OBA.
