World Rugby Classic: Italy Out, Bermuda In

November 5, 2021

Organisers of the World Rugby Classic confirmed that Italy withdrew from the Classic, and they have welcomed Bermuda back into the tournament, with Bermuda set to play Canada on Monday [Nov 8].

The World Rugby Classic posted the graphic below, saying: “Unfortunately, Italy has had to withdraw from the Classic, but we are excited to welcome Bermuda back into the tournament! As you can well imagine, dealing with all the various restrictions and rules in place has not made staging an event easy, but we move forward and are looking forward to putting on a safe event that everyone can enjoy.

President of the BRFU Sean Field Lament stated, “This is a wonderful opportunity for local players to lace up their boots again and play against quality players. It is amazing that this event is being held, especially in the current context of profound challenges. Bermuda rugby has a long and storied history, with the Classic a golden strand interwoven in that legacy. Good luck to Bermuda!”

“Welcome to the tournament Bermuda Rugby! Their first match is against Canadian Classics Rugby on Monday, November 8th at 7pm so be sure to grab your tickets ptix.bm and come and support our local team!”

The ticket sale page notes, “The event will be a Vaccinated-Only and SafeKey event. This means that everyone entering the ground; spectators, players, caterers, volunteers etc will need to show ID along with proof of vaccination and a valid SafeKey. Without these items, entry will be denied.”
