Minister: ‘We Are Making Progress’ On Repairs

December 2, 2021 | 7 Comments

“We are making progress,” said the Acting Minister of Public Works Wayne Furbert today regarding repairs at Tynes Bay.

The Minister continued, “Thanks to the hard work put in by the Tynes Bay Waste to Energy Facility successful repairs have been carried out and one of the plant boilers is operational and this morning it resumed the process of incinerating the backlog of waste.

“I can also advise that the replacement parts critical to operating the bailing machine were successfully installed, allowing for the output of approximately 70 bails.

“The Team at Tynes Bay are now aggressively clearing the contents of the dumping hall to divert residential waste from the Marsh Folly site. To be clear, the burning capacity of the single boiler is being closely monitored as Tyne’s Bay remains in urgent need of equipment, which includes a new hydraulic system for the bailing machine. Unfortunately, however, the equipment is currently on backorder overseas.

“Engineers and staff at Tynes Bay will be updating the Ministry daily over the next week, and we will ensure that area residents are updated on the progress in a timely manner.”

Minister Furbert concluded, “We have done all we can to minimize the amount of landfilling required at Marsh Folly. The area residents can rest assured that we are ensuring that the work there is being done with minimal environmental impact.

“Tomorrow, I will personally tour the facility to receive an update from key personnel at the Tyne’s Bay facility and will subsequently update the public. I think it should be stressed that the challenges at the Tynes Bay Waste Facility are in large part due to the significant and woeful lack of investment and management by the previous administration. However I can assure Bermuda that we are working swiftly and diligently to address the problems that we inherited.”

The last administration ruled for 5 years. The PLP has rules for all but 5 of the last 23 years. Do you really expect us to believe that all of the problems in Bermuda (apart from racism, which goes back 400 years) arose between 2012 and 2017?

Minister, you are so full of malarky to put it politely. How long has the PLP been in power? Previous administration? Yeah your government, or should I say, the government you flip flopped over to. Tell the real truth man.

YOU WERE THE PREVIOUS ADMINISTRATION! How stupid do the PLP think the electorate are? Oh wait nevermind.

  6. Guy Carri says:

    ROTFL!
    The previous administration! lol!

PLP has been our elected government since 1998 except for 4yrs. That’s 20 yrs out of 24. How can you possibly have the game face to say it’s the fault of the 4yr, single term party?

PLP name is written ALL over it as far back as 2001 when Eugene Cox said it would need replacing soon and it’s time to start a fund.

You can fool those who hear, but you can’t fool those who listen.

Furbert you are clueless as a bag of bolts. Your plps lucky.
Proof in the pudding. In case you don’t remember who the last administration was.. look in the mirror
