Corona League Season 2022 Announced

January 7, 2022

Mike McGrath, the President of the Corona League, announced the launch of the 2022 Corona League season.

Mr McGrath said, “I am delighted to announce the return of the Corona League which will hit the turf again on Friday January 7th.

“The teams were extremely disappointed that we couldn’t get a 2020-21 season going and were determined not to let that happen again. Following government protocols we are confident we can safely deliver another exciting season and look forward to kicking off.

“2022 sees us welcoming two new teams to the league so it is a hello to YGS FC and Inter BDA who join the Royal Bermuda Regiment, Tuff Dogs, Footy Kings, Onions FC and Robin Hood.

“Kick off times will be Friday 7 & 9pm and Saturday 4pm which will see us complete the league and then follow that excitement with the Corona League Cup competition.

“Spectators are welcome to come to the Goose Gosling Field at BAA to share in the excitement and drama of the games and cheer their teams on. The games will be a Safekey event and spectators will be required to bring identification to accompany their Safekey as well as confirm a negative antigen test on the day of the game.

“Friday sees new boys YGS FC take on The Royal Bermuda Regiment at 7pm followed by Tuff Dogs vs Onions FC.

“Saturday’s spectacular at 4pm will be Footy Kings vs Robin Hood.”

  1. Raj says:

Well done Mike, again selfless, unpaid work on behalf of Bermuda football and BAA specifically. Too late for the New Year Honors but seriously the BFA could learn a thing.

  2. Darren says:

Echo that Raj, Mike is a British expat with no status who has given weekend football to thousands of Bermudians (and countless other nationalities) over the past decade or more.

Glad you brought it up, people like him should be celebrated.
