Acting Minister Tinee Furbert stated, “Everyone has been working hard to get students back to school. We understand that testing delays have impacted this process, but we wish to thank parents, guardians, staff and students for their cooperation and patience as we ensure all students are back to in-person learning.”

Earlier this week the Bermuda Union of Teachers criticized what they called the “massively botched January return to school.”

  1. Rig says:

So no senior schools are open at all.

Except for all the private schools; Warwick, MSA, Somersfield, BHS, Saltus – all open.

I wonder why that is? I hope someone is losing their job for this mess.

  2. Sick of it All says:

We’Re sORRy wE BoTChEd eVerYthIng uP, but the teachers and Students will start in-class learning LATE this School Term! We’re EXTREMELY SORRY we let DR. Weldon Go. She did too GOOD of a job! We’re sorry it has taken two years to attempt to get plans together and appropriate the proper funds, so, We are trying to ‘pick up the Pieces’. By the way, We’re swamped with long lists of schools and busses that are short on resources. We’re gonna try to do better this year with everything, but don’t hold us to that. Just remember, come Christmas, we will fly out and put everyone on CURFEW so the problems don’t get worse. Hopefully it won’t get worse, Your grateful friends.

  3. Check your school says:

The PLP Government finds it easier to list the schools that are open? Really?

What recourse do parents have if they wish to keep their kids home and revert to remote or distance learning?

  6. enough says:

The government was given funding by the international business sector on island to get the antigen test that can be taken at home and the result fed into a website connected to the school. Warwick academy has been doing this since September so why is it the Government schools cannot do the same thing. I can see why Ms. Weldon has resigned, so unfortunate as she is so needed right now but as usual those higher up have not listened once again. really beginning to think someone is benefiting somewhere along the line.
