Off Level BDA Donates $1,270 To BASE
Off Level BDA has donated $1,270 to the Bermuda Autism Support and Education Society [BASE].
A spokesperson said, “The season for giving continues into the new year. Off Level BDA has donated $1,270 to the Bermuda Autism Support and Education Society.
“The donation was a benefit from the Off Level Games recently held at Southampton Rangers Sports Club. The annual event is an adult sports day, with the winner choosing a charitable organization to receive a kind donation.
“Sixteen teams competed against each other in various games and sporting activities, including dodgeball, bubble football, sumo wrestling, volleyball, egg and spoon, three-legged racing, and more. The day is filled with friendly competition as points are earned for each victory; every team wants to win for their indicated charity.”
Daniel Woods of Off Level BDA said, “I was happy the winning team selected BASE as the organization to receive the funds; it happily educated our team on their program and what they’re hoping to accomplish.
“This was our seventh year hosting the event and previous donation recipients include SPCA, Kat Kids, a private GoFundMe page, and youth sports teams.”
The spokesperson said, “We’d like to take this opportunity to thank our awesome partners who make this event a great success, including Burrows & Lightbourn Ltd, Southampton Rangers Sports Club, Betta Dais, and Xtreme Sports. Without them, fun, spirited events like this would not be possible.”
A BASE spokeswoman said, “We thank Daniel and his team for a creative way of having fun and benefiting the charity of choice. We are honoured.
“Since Covid, we have been challenged with fundraising activities for a small charity such as ours that operates by volunteers only, with no paid staff. It was wonderful news to hear that BASE has been chosen to receive donations from Off Level Games. Based on the media we saw, it looked like a fun time.”
The spokesperson said, “BASE is an organization that primarily focuses on increasing public awareness of autism and helps ensure individuals on the autism spectrum are given opportunities and resources to achieve their full potential. If you would like to contact BASE you can reach them via email at basebda@yahoo.com.
“Off Level BDA is committed to creating community spaces where people can join in the festivities for good causes. In 2022, there will be more events and more opportunities to give back.”
