Restaurant Weeks Review: Crown And Anchor

For my third stop of Restaurant Weeks, I decided to check out Crown and Anchor at Hamilton Princess with my sister. I expected a delicious meal with excellent service and I got just that.

We sat outside under the covered patio and it was surprisingly warm even though it was a cold night. The menu was in the $42 category and even though there was only one choice available per course, it was still a winner.

For starters, we enjoyed Fish Chowder Bites with rum aioli. For those who enjoyed dining at Marcus’, myself included, these were a welcomed treat on the menu. Crunchy, flavorful and yummy, especially when dipped in the aioli. I’ve missed these bites and really enjoyed them as a starter.

For mains, we enjoyed Local Swordfish with loquat compote, sweet potato purée and roasted vegetables. The fish was a large portion and cooked beautifully. It wasn’t over seasoned and the loquat compote added a nice sweetness. The purée was excellent and along with the roasted vegetables rounded out the fish.

I will be honest – on paper, I wasn’t excited by this dish. But, as soon as I tasted it, I was in heaven. It was very Bermudian and just downright delicious.

For dessert, we had Sour Cherry Chocolate Mousse with white chocolate streusel. I wasn’t crazy about the sour cherries at all, but the texture of the streusel with the creamy mousse was really good. We ended up having the special cake – S’mores Cake which was decadent and something I would happily order again.

Overall, I really enjoyed my dinner at Crown and Anchor. Both the food and service were good as were the margaritas we ordered.

The whole vibe was on point thanks to live music by Working Title. Unfortunately, they had to stop their set at 10pm, despite those of us in the bar area still enjoying the music. But, it was a great treat to dine out and have excellent live music. I would definitely recommend checking out Crown and Anchor before Restaurant Weeks finishes next month.

*Crown and Anchor is in the $42 category for Restaurant Weeks.
