Trade Union Congress Elects New Executive
The Bermuda Trade Union Congress [BTUC] recently elected a new Executive, with Nishanthi Bailey elected President, Timothy Seon and Nakia Pearson elected First and Second Vice President, respectively, Kevin Grant elected General Secretary, Renee Jones elected Treasurer, and Dante Cooper elected Assistant General Secretary/Assistant Treasurer.
A spokesperson said, “In accordance with Article 10 of the Constitution of the Bermuda Trade Union Congress [BTUC], the Biennial Convention of the BTUC was held on February 3, 2022.
“At the closure of Business, the election of officers, to serve for the next term took place, and the results were as follows:
- Sis. Nishanthi Bailey [BUT], President
- Bro. Timothy Seon [POA], First Vice President
- Bro. Nakia Pearson [FSA], Second Vice President
- Bro. Kevin Grant [BPSU], General Secretary
- Sis. Renee Jones [BIU], Treasurer
- Bro. Dante Cooper [BUT], Assistant General Secretary/Assistant Treasurer
“The newly formed Executive will hold its first Executive Board meeting in early March, and we look forward to the continued dialogue, open communication, and consultation, that will encourage and promote effective labour and community relations.”
