CAA Highlights Footballer Nia Christopher

The Colonial Athletic Association [CAA] has highlighted Bermudian footballer Nia Christopher as she rejoins the Bermuda Senior Women’s National Team.

The CAA website said, “Towson women’s soccer player Nia Christopher has rejoined the Bermuda Senior Women’s National Team for a pair of Confederation of North, Central America and Caribbean Association Football [CONCACAF] qualifier games in the coming days.

“Christopher and Team Bermuda will take on Jamaica in Kingston on Thursday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. then will take on the Cayman Islands on Tuesday, Feb. 22 in Bradenton, Florida.

“The CONCACAF qualifiers will determine the teams which will compete in the 2022 CONCACAF W Championship. Six of the 30 teams in the qualifiers will advance to the tournament in July. There are two sets of qualifiers: Feb. 16-22 and April 6-12.

“Bermuda is competing in Group C. The team will compete against Jamaica and the Cayman Islands in the Feb. qualifiers then Grenada and the Dominican Republic in the Apr. qualifiers.

“Christopher, a Devonshire-native who moved to the United States at the age of 15, has competed with Team Bermuda since she was 17 in previous World Cup and CONCACAF qualifiers plus did a U.S. tour this past summer.

“With Towson, Christopher earned 2021 United Soccer Coaches [USC] NCAA DI Women’s All-East Region and All-Colonial Athletic Association [CAA] First Team at forward, earning the third-highest goal-scoring season in program history with 13, including five game-winners. She finished with four multi-goal contests plus was a College Soccer News Women’s National Player of the Week.”
