Date Change For 2022 Relay For Life Event
This year’s Relay For Life event at National Sports Centre has been moved from May 20th and 21st to the weekend before – May 13th and 14th, 2022.
A spokesperson said, “This year’s anticipated in-person Relay For Life event at National Sports Centre has been moved from Friday and Saturday May 20th and 21st to the weekend before, May 13th and 14th, 2022. The event will commence Friday evening with an Opening Ceremony at 6.15pm and finish on Saturday at 12.30pm.
“This unexcepted change is due to recent knowledge of another event being held at the NSC whereby the celebratory atmosphere of Relay would interfere with the sporting competition. To best accommodate all events and get back on the Relay track for an exciting in-person event, the Committee has made the decision to change the event date.

“We look forward to welcoming teams and the public to the North Field at the National Sports Centre on May 13th and 14th. For anyone interested in learning more about Relay For Life and how to join as a team, please visit www.bermudarelay.com to register your attendance at our second Team Captain meeting which will be held on Tuesday, March 15th.
“The Bermuda Relay event, held in May every year (May 13-14, 2022) at the North Field, National Sports Centre, is the Island’s largest annual fundraiser, attracting more than 5,000 people each year and raising over $4.5 million since it began.
“97% of funds raised through Relay support the local event’s mission to raise awareness and funds to promote access to cancer prevention, early detection, treatment and support provided by Bermuda Cancer and Health Centre; and 3% supports the American Cancer Society’s Global Relay For Life, life-saving research and programmes around the world.
“Relay For Lifes are overnight events, with teams camping out around a track. Each Relay begins with an inspirational opening ceremony, followed by cancer survivors taking the first lap around a track while other participants cheer them on.
“All Relay participants then start walking around the track. After dark, Relay events feature a solemn luminaria ceremony with hundreds of lighted candles to honour cancer survivors and remember those who have lost their battles with the disease. Relays end with a closing ceremony the next day. For information on Relay For Life of Bermuda, visit www.bermudarelay.com.”
