Football: Wolves, Cougars & Trojans Win

Three football matches took place recently, with Wolves and the Devonshire Cougars advancing to the Shield and Friendship semi-finals, while the Somerset Trojan remain in seventh place.

Shield Quarter-Final: Wolves 2 – St. David’s 1

At the BAA Field, Wolves took the lead in the first half through a Jason Davis strike. St. David’s got a second half strike from Iyuan Smith to level the score, but they allowed Wolves to score a second through Omeek Smith as Wolves advanced to the Shield semi-finals.

Friendship Quarter-Final: X-Roads 1 – Devonshire Cougars 4

At the BAA field, the Devonshire Cougars took the lead in the first minute against X-Roads as Che-Kai Caisey found the back of the net. Jaman Lottimore equalized for X-Roads in the 28th minute, but Domico Coddington restored the Devonshire Cougars lead in the 34th minute.

In the 61st minute, Drewonde Bascome gave the Devonshire Cougars a 3 – 1 lead, and then in the 79th minute, another Bascome goal for the Devonshire Cougars ended the game as a contest.

Premier Division: Somerset Trojans 3 – St. George’s Colts 1

At the Somerset Cricket Club, the Somerset Trojans defeated the St. George’s Colts 3 – 1. The Somerset Trojans took the lead through an own goal in the first half. Tevahn Tyrell doubled the Somerset Trojans lead in the second half, only to have the St. George’s Colts pull a goal back within two minutes with a lob over the goalkeeper. The Somerset Trojans’ two goal lead was restored when a defensive error allowed Nathan Rego to shoot and score uncontested.
