Madelyn Moore Wins Three More Gold Medals
[Updated] Madelyn Moore continues to impress at the 2022 WAC Swimming and Diving Championships in Texas, claiming two more gold medals and helping to set a relay record, which follows her performance on the first day, which saw her claim two medals and two new records.
The school’s report said, “Northern Colorado Swim and Dive just keep climbing. Four school records fell on Friday evening as the Bears rocketed up to third in the team standings with 335 points.
“Madelyn Moore returned to the pool in the 100 back. Eyeing back-to-back gold medals in the event, Moore blew everyone out of the water with UNC’s third school record of the night, hitting the wall at 53.14 for another gold medal and an NCAA B cut.
“No one could’ve been prepared for the fireworks the Bears brought in the 400 medley relay, though. Katelyn Bergin, Bryanna Ungs, Payten Irwin and Madelyn Moore etched their names in Northern Colorado history, smashing the program record by over three seconds, relishing the gold medal with a 3:38.40.
Head Coach, Lisa Ebeling said, “I don’t remember ever being part of a championship session that was as electric as tonight. Every single one of our women stepped up to race with heart and passion and their energy was contagious. This evening was an epic team performance with multiple school records and NCAA qualifying times event after event. I couldn’t possibly be more proud. One. More. Day!”
Update Feb 27, 8.30am: Madelyn Moore won two more medals on the final day. The school’s report said, “Madelyn Moore wasn’t going to leave Houston without three individual golds. Resetting the record book once again in the 100 free, Moore grabbed gold and another NCAA B cut with a 49.10.
“The 2022 WAC Championships came to a close with the ever-exciting 400 free relay. Saana Liikonen, Ali Jackson, Giulia Pavanello and Madelyn Moore were graced with the task of ending the meet on a high note. The quartet swam its fastest time of the season, clocking in at 3:21.33 and claiming the bronze medal.”
