Peas Had Largest Price Percentage Increase
If you are a frequent consumer of frozen peas you have been paying more, as in 2020 they had the largest price percentage increase at 21%, however on a more welcome note, boneless codfish is among the foods that have had price reductions from 2011 to 2020.
This is according to the recently released Bermuda Digest of Statistics, which said, “Food and non-alcoholic beverage retail prices rose for 29 of the 46 selected items during the past year*. Frozen peas had the largest price percentage increase while frozen beans had the largest percentage decrease year-to-year.
“Over the last decade, the greatest percentage increase was for margarine. Several items had price reductions from 2011 to 2020; namely, boneless codfish, tuna, boiled ham, eggs, cooking oil, frozen beans and frozen broccoli. There are 24 selected items across the 5 categories of Household & Personal, Liquor & Tobacco, Fuel & Power, Transportation and Recreation & Entertainment. Over the past year, 15 prices increased, 1 price decreased and 8 remained unchanged.”
