Phillips Competes In J5 Guatemala Semi-Final
Daniel Phillips recently concluded competing in doubles in the J5 Guatemala International Tennis Tournament, falling in the semi-finals with his partner Itai Vasershtein from Israel.
In their quarter-final round match-up, Phillips and his partner took on Tommy Czaplinski from the United States and Diego Duran from El Salvador; the match would need a third set tie breaker to decide a winner.
Phillips and Vasershtein won the first set 6-2, but Czaplinski and Duran won the second set by the same score. The third set tie breaker saw Phillips and Vasershtein win 11-9 to advance.
In the semi-final, Phillips and Vasershtein took on Alejandro Bravo Diaz and his partner Juan Pablo Patino Velasco, both from Columbia.
Diaz and Velasco won in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.
