Bermuda U18 Volleyballers To Compete In Boston

The Bermuda Under 18 Boys National Volleyball Team “Big Wave Riders” will be competing in the Nike Boston Volleyball Festival this weekend. 300 teams are participating at the event located at the Boston Convention Center. Over 60 volleyball courts are required to run the event.

Teams competing this weekend are placed into different age groupings and skill levels. The Bermuda team is pooled in Boys 18 Club group with 24 other competitive club teams from the Northeast United States.

The team is made up of players that have been in the BVA Junior program for several years. Head a coach Drew Soares and assistant coach Kevin Manuel have been preparing the boys for this event since October. For many it is their first overseas competition.

The team composite is Setters Yanik Smith and Ben Autmezguine. Outside Hitters James Luckham, Raphael Rudolf, Chris Skinner and Savio Wilson. Middle Blockers Rajan Patton and Kyle Mello, Libero Jake Roberts and Defensive Specialist Rico Cabral and Nik Froud.
