BFRS Extinguish Fire & Rescue Man From Home
The Bermuda Fire & Rescue Service responded to a fire on Devon Spring Lane in Devonshire today, with firefighters removing an elderly man from the apartment, who was then transported to hospital.
A spokesperson said, “On Thursday March 17th 2022 at 5:30pm, BFRS Dispatch received a report of a structural fire with one person reported trapped inside on Devon Spring Lane, Devonshire.
“BFRS responded with 3 appliances from Hamilton, Clearwater Station and a total of 10 firefighters. On arrival, fire crews saw flames emitting from an apartment on the ground floor.
“The Officer in Charge of the scene quickly instructed two firefighters wearing breathing apparatus to enter through a door on the western side of the building to search for the missing person.
“Firefighters removed an elderly man from the apartment and commenced CPR. The patient was quickly transported to KEMH via ambulance. Firefighters remained on science to ensure that the fire was completely extinguished. The incident is under investigation.”
