Kennette Burgess Bermuda March 2022Women’s Entrepreneurs Network [WEN] recently held a panel discussion that included Bermudian and North Carolina entrepreneur Kennette Burgess.

A spokesperson said, “International Women’s Day has arrived International Women’s day is on March 8th this year, the global theme is #BreakTheBias. Organizations world wide are hosting empowerment events, seminars, and panels to empower women to thrive.

“For the last two years, the Women’s Entrepreneurs Network has held a panel event to celebrate women’s achievements. The Women Entrepreneurs Network is a premier network group designed to appeal to female entrepreneurs and businesswomen alike. They firmly believe in inspiring, educating, and empowering women to pursue their dreams and have the financial freedom they deserve.

“This year, a common thread in social media came to their mind and so she invited women who have influence in this area, such as marketing, leadership, education, and live streaming. WEN invited Bermudian and North Carolina female entrepreneur Kennette J. Burgess, CEO of FOCUS Marketing & Development Solutions, to be a guest speaker for their panel after seeing her accomplishments and influence.

“Kennette was joined by two other female speakers: Charlene Tessier, LinkedIn expert, and Crystal Colson, Facebook advertising specialist, and host and WEN founder Rhonda Giarratana. Kennette’s title was “Time to Rise Up & #BreakTheBias through Entrepreneurship” subtitled ‘Create your Own Space to Secure Your Own Equal Future’ where she empowered women to take charge of their own future by rising up to the challenge and employing themselves through entrepreneurship as she did.

“Kennette believes that this will help to break bias working environments and help women survive in a Covid-19 world and beyond as many women were fired, deemed replaceable, made redundant, holidays taken away, or not given raises despite companies profits increasing.”

Ms Burgess said, “You see many of us entrepreneurial women were tired of working in an unsafe space. Sexism on the job, racism on the job, being paid lower wages than men, not getting the wages we deserved, being fired, made redundant for nothing we did wrong, or when we didn’t give in to sexual advances, or not being given a seat at the same table as a room full or men or not being listened to because we have breasts and wombs.

“Well I was tired of hearing that. My female clients were too. How about you?”

The spokesperson said, “As the owner and strategic marketing consultant and business coach of FOCUS Marketing, Kennette’s primary goal is to empower entrepreneurs to follow their passion and create their own lane. Most of her clients are female entrepreneurs for many reasons ranging from women deciding that it’s time to be self reliable and financial stable to women having to help their families with their innate gifts and skills to increase their family wealth and opportunities to women who have had enough dealing with on the job bias against their sex or race.

“Kennette confirms one of the missions for International Women’s Day – to build workplaces where women thrive – is also her mission for her business.

Ms. Burgess said, “I set my goal in 2017 when I launched my business FOCUS that in three to five years I will go full time with my business, and all glory to God in 2020 I was able to shift at three years full time successfully as my business clients grow due to the pandemic and other factors.
