Lena Headey To Move Behind The Camera
Bermudian-born actress Lena Headey is to make her directorial debut with a psychological thriller.
Best known for her role as Cersei Lannister on the HBO fantasy series Game of Thrones, Headey’s film is an adaptation of SJL Holliday’s hit novel Violet.
Headey, the daughter of John Headey, an island policeman, and his wife Susan, was born in 1973 and lived in Bermuda for five years.
The film centres around two mysterious female travellers whose trip unravels as they spend more time with each other.
Production will reportedly start in October 2022, with a release date yet to be announced.
In a statement published on Digital Spy, Headey said: “Susi’s Violet is a compulsive page-turner that stayed with me long after I finished the book – it’s exciting that my first feature as a director will be such an intense female thriller.
“It’s a wild ride to the finish with a vast cinematic scope, centring around two very complex women who will completely unravel over the course of the film. I cannot wait to get rolling.”
Headey, who starred in movies Guardians of the Galaxy, 300: Rise of an Empire and The Purge, can also be seen in 9 Bullets, which is set to hit theatres on April 22.
The 48-year-old plays Gypsy, a former burlesque dancer who protects a young boy and his dog after he witnesses his parents’ murder.
