“In this webinar, participants will learn:

  • the mindset required to get what you want;
  • to manage the derogatory negotiation perceptions for women;
  • subtle communication techniques to avoid giving away power;
  • about the double bind of likeability in negotiation and how to leverage it.

Bermuda Electric Light Company Limited [BELCO] Managing Director of Transmission, Distribution and Retail Shelly Leman said: “BELCO is pleased and honoured to be a sponsor of the Chamber of Commerce Women’s Day event. While utilities have traditionally been viewed as male-dominated industries, there are women in all areas and at all levels within BELCO that are having a positive impact on many aspects of our operations. We are committed to our Environmental, Social and Governance [ESG] values and continue to support and empower women throughout our Company. I look forward to attending the Chamber Women’s Day event and sharing knowledge with colleagues.”

Maria C. Pereira, Director of Human Capital of One Communications said, “At One Communications, we see powerful women who are shaping the future of our business and our community. One Communications is home to women from diverse backgrounds, representing all areas of our business including senior leadership. Their experiences, talents and points of view propel the innovation a technology company like ours relies on. They raise our teams’ performance to the next level and drive our company forward. We are proud to support this event that serves to advance equity for the empowerment of women. Our sponsorship reflects our company’s commitment to stand for equality and break the gender bias.”

Bermuda Chamber of Commerce Chief Executive Officer, Kendaree Burgess shared “Negotiations are tough, they are especially difficult when a person is emotionally and or financially invested. These conversations often leave the individual feeling defeated. Women often feel disadvantaged for a number of reasons including historical disparities in pay, and inexperience. This session is designed to help women strengthen their arsenal, and ultimately succeed in becoming better negotiators. We are hoping that as many women as possible will take this opportunity to sign up and that companies will support their women by hosting watch parties on their behalf.”
