Wesley Methodist: ‘God Created Us All Equally’

March 14, 2022

“Just as we supported OUTBermuda with this legal case, we will continue to find ways to create equity for those in the LGBTQ+ community who need it most,” Wesley Methodist Church said following today’s ruling by the Privy Council in the UK.

A spokesperson said, “Wesley Methodist Church is committed to supporting equal rights and justice for all Bermudians. God created us all equally and we are all created in God’s image. Just as Jesus radically fought for the marginalized and the oppressed, Wesley Methodist Church will continue to strive for a society, and a church, where all are treated with dignity, equality and respect. Just as we supported OUTBermuda with this legal case, we will continue to find ways to create equity for those in the LGBTQ+ community who need it most.

The late Archbishop Desmond Tutu stated “I would refuse to go to a homophobic heaven. No, I would say sorry, I mean I would much rather go to the other place,” I would not worship a God who is homophobic and that is how deeply I feel about this. I am as passionate about this campaign as I ever was about apartheid. For me, it is at the same level,”

  1. Joe Bloggs says:

“The late Archbishop Desmond Tutu stated …”

He was a great man in so many ways. He is sorely missed.

  2. Sorry says:

Desmond Tutu stated that if God did not look favorably on the LgBT + community he did not want to go to heaven. Ah. Thought I’d meet him there.

  3. Real Deal says:

someone clearly does not seem to understand God.
God is a father the Father we are the children.
There are no healthy fathers that want their children to worship them.

look at a lion. The father clearly wants the children to learn from the mother so they can grow up to be big and strong to be able to advance and survive in Reality just like daddy

not rocket science but it is science life form evolution

Someone doesn’t understand that god isn’t real, doesn’t exist…if you think it does, you’re mentally deranged and should seek help.

    • Citygurl says:

Funny, the DSM said the same thing about homosexuality (the mentally deranged part) until 1974. Equality, Yay!

  5. LOL (original TM) says:

No problem with some of the alfabit crew. Draw the line at trans and whatever the P stands for. To accept trans you can not believe in God. Its that simple. Trans people are convinced that they were born into the wrong body to suggest that or accept that would mean that the God that this church says they worship was wrong. How can they justify that statment? Logic demands that they must be hypocrits.

    • PBanks says:

Whether people who are transgender believe in God or not, why does it matter? Surely they deserve the same dignity as respect as any other human?

In the case of a religious body such as a church, isn’t it their mission to approach and minister to anybody who wishes to hear the message?

    • Mike Hind says:

First off, if you’re referring to paedophilia, there’s no P.
That was added by paedophiles and bigots to try to defame the LGBTQ+ community. It’s not a real thing and it is not accepted.
Because of consent. Everyone in the lgbtq+ community, the “alfabit crew”, understands that there has to be consent. It’s weird how bigots don’t understand that.

As for trans folks and religion? You don’t get to tell people who they are of how they worship.

Would you be ok with someone calling you a “hipocrit” about some nonsense they made up about you?

Just leave people alone. They aren’t hurting you. Or anyone They’re just trying to find a little piece of happiness in this world.

And you seem hell-bent on stopping that. Why? Does it make you feel better to drag someone else down? Does it stop some hurt you have inside to hurt other people?
