City Launches Self-Guided Public Art Tour
In recognition of World Art Day tomorrow [April 15], the City of Hamilton is launching its City-wide Art Tour, saying that “this self-guided tour takes art enthusiasts across Hamilton to view 19 works of public art inclusive of mosaics, colourful murals and interactive art installations.”
“While walking through the City, it’s hard not to notice the numerous art installations located on almost every street,” said City Marketing Coordinator Sideya Dill. “We thought, why not capture a record of all these public art pieces in one place?
“We often have visitors ask us for more information about our public art and we think this will make the perfect addition to our other tours. It’s also a great way to bring further exposure to the art pieces as well as to the artists themselves.”
“All art commissioned by the City of Hamilton through its VIVID: City of Hamilton Public Art Initiative has a plaque located on or near the artwork with a QR code that can be scanned to learn more about the artist and artwork.
“The official Art Tour map is free and can be collected from City Hall reception or found on our website here. This is a self-guided tour, however, if you have any questions throughout, please contact us at events@cityhall.bm.”
