City Of Hamilton Looking For Talented Artists

Over the past three years the City Arts Festival has focused on beautifying various areas in Hamilton in a concerted effort to live up to the mandate of being a ‘vibrant’ City.

To date the Festival has installed more than 10 works of art throughout Hamilton by various local artists that have added colour, culture and beauty to the streets and parks of Hamilton.

The Festival has released a Request For Proposal for this year’s three installations. Artists interested in submitting a proposal can collect the RFP documents, outlining the scope of the project, from the City offices in City Hall. The documents can also be found on the City’s website at www.cityofhamilton.bm.

A spokesperson for the Festival said, “This year we are looking for artists to submit art installation proposals for three locations that have been identified – Till’s Hill, the driveway entrance at Par-la-Ville car park and the taxi stand wall by City Hall car park, facing Church Street.

“We are very excited to announce that there will be a fourth installation to also look forward to. We have reached out to the Department of Corrections and they have agreed to allow the inmates to produce an installation for Cavendish Car park.

“The artwork will be created at Westgate and installed by our team at a date to be determined. I think we have all, at one time or another, seen various forms of inmate craftsmanship from wood carvings and furniture to canvases. There is a plethora of artistic talent at Westgate and we are proud to showcase that talent in such a public setting.”

The deadline for submissions is 5pm on Monday, March 26th and they are to be delivered to the City offices in City Hall. The RFP document can also be found on the City of Hamilton website under About The City/News.
