KBB Hosting 22 Cleanup Events For Earth Day

April 21, 2022

In recognition of Earth Day 2022 on Friday, April 22nd, more than 600 volunteers with Keep Bermuda Beautiful [KBB] are cleaning up at 22 different locations across the island from Tuesday, April 19th through Wednesday, April 27th.

The cleanups are part of a wider call to action for everyone in Bermuda to participate in this year’s Earth Day Challenge,” KBB said.

“The Challenge, which will be trending on social media this weekend, is an opportunity for each of us to get involved in activities that aim to make a positive difference throughout the community and demonstrate our care for the environment. Everyone is encouraged to post photos of their Earth Day actions, tag KBB or Keep Bermuda Beautiful, and use #kbb and #earthdaybda to share in the fun.

“Celebrating Earth Day is one of many examples of KBB’s mission to engage individuals to take greater responsibility in reducing waste, eliminating litter and beautifying Bermuda through action and education.

“The Challenge also aligns with one of KBB’s guiding principles to build and maintain community partnerships. As such, KBB is thrilled to be collaborating with other environmental non-profit organisations, corporate and school partners, and hundreds of volunteers, ages 5 years and up, for this year’s Earth Day Challenge.

“This week, KBB volunteers will be collecting hundreds of pounds of litter, recyclables and bulk waste from Bermuda’s roads, parks, beaches and railway trail. For everyone’s safety, the motoring public is asked to please use caution if you encounter a group of KBB volunteers on the roadside.

Why can’t we utilize the resources in case mates for day release to join in with these groups get them out and doing something for themselves and the community. Not the serious offenders …our roads and sidewalks look terrible, grass and bushes overgrown , trash everywhere. Get them out , fresh air, physical exercise, community connection and cheap labor…win win
