St David’s County Cricket Club Bicycle Race, Go Kart Race And

Motor Go Kart Race

Friday, 15th April, 2022

Routes:

1. Bicycle Race Route:

Cycle participant will commence at St David’s Lighthouse Road near the turn-around area, then travel in a northerly direct to St Luke’s Lane, then turn left and travel in a westerly direction along St Luke’s Lane to Texas Road, then turn right and travel in north easterly direction to Great Bay Road, then travel in a easterly direct along Great Bay Road to the entrance of St David’s County Cricket Club entrance and end the race.

2. Go Kart Race Route:

Go Kart participant will commence at St David’s Lighthouse near the turn around, then travel in a northerly direct to St Luke’s Lane, then turn left and travel in a westerly direction along St Luke’s Lane to Texas Road, then turn right and travel in north easterly direction to Great Bay Road, then travel in an easterly direct along Great Bay Road to the entrance of St David’s County Cricket Club entrance and end the race.

3. Motor Go Kart Race Route:

The Motor Go Kart participant will commence at Mount Road turn around, then travel in a northerly direct to St Luke’s Lane, then turn left and travel in a westerly direction along St Luke’s Lane to Texas Road, then turn right and travel in north easterly direction to Great Bay Road, then travel in a easterly direct along Great Bay Road to the entrance of St David’s County Cricket Club entrance and end the race.

4.Traffic Control:

The bicycle race will commence on Friday, 15th April 2022 at 4.00pm and is expected to be concluded by 4.10pm. The Go Kart race will commence on Friday, 15th April 2022 at 4.15pm and is expected to be concluded by 4.20pm. The Motor Go Kart race will commence on Friday, 15th April 2022 at 4.30pm and is expected to be concluded by 4.45pm. All motorists are expected to use caution and avoid collusion with race participants. The race route will be under Police and Race Official control. Motorists are asked to follow Race Official instructions to assist with traffic control for this event.

5.Roads Closed:

The following roads will be closed, Mount Road, St Luke’s Lane, Texas Road, and Great Bay Road to motorists. The motorists must also allow cyclists and Go Kart participants to use these roads and give way when directed by Police and Race Officials.

6.Parking:

There will be parking restriction for roadways mentioned above for these races. Additionally, motorists must not block the race route or impede the participants in these races.

7.Residence Access

While these races takes place the residents will have limited access to their property. The residents must rely on race officials to grant access to their property. Use caution to avoid any collision with any race participant when entering the close roadways for this bicycle race.

In addition, the Bermuda police are hereby authorized to “Close-Off” streets or portions of streets and authorize parking as the Commissioner of Police decides.

The Road Traffic [Variation Of Speed Limits] [No. ] ORDER 2022

In exercise of the power conferred upon the Minister charged with responsibility for Works by Section 7[2A] and [2B] of the Road Traffic Act, 1947, the following Order is hereby made:-

1. [i] This Order may be cited as the Road Traffic [Variation of Speed Limits] [No. ]

Order 2022.

[ii] This Order applies to the contestants and to the attendant vehicles to the contestants of the St David’s County Cricket Club Bicycle Race, Go Kart, and Motor Go Kart Races to be held on Friday, 15th April 2022.

2 [i] The speed limits fixed by Section 7[2] of the Road Traffic Act, 1947 are hereby varied to the extent specified in the first column of the Schedule in respect of the St David’s County Cricket Club Bicycle, Go Kart, and Motor Co Kart Races.

[iii] The roads or parts thereof specified in the second column of the Schedule are hereby declared to be subject at the times specified in the third column of the schedule to the speed limit specified in the first column thereof.
