Scooter Mart Bermuda Charge Set For July 3
The 4th annual Scooter Mart Bermuda Charge will be held in July, with the auto show and charity ride set to feature entertainment, vendors, an Eco Drive section, rider demonstrations and much more.
A spokesperson said, “Front Street will be closed to traffic on Sunday 03 July 2022, from the Birdcage to Parliament Street, to host the 4th annual Scooter Mart Bermuda Charge. The auto show and charity ride will offer free entry for spectators, and at least 2,000 – 3,000 people are expected throughout the day; tickets are only required for show and ride participants, and 300 riders are anticipated for the end-of-show motorcade.
Event Director, David Cahill, said: “This year’s event will be the biggest auto show that has ever taken place in Bermuda, and we have named it “Motor Fest” in anticipation of the festival atmosphere it will create. Our show is famous for bringing together people from all communities with a shared love of Bermuda’s motor culture, it’s something special. We can’t wait to bring our colourful and vibrant event to Hamilton – there will be hundreds of outstanding show bikes on display. Early bird tickets have already sold out many weeks in advance of the big day!”
A look at part of the 2020 event
“The festival will officially open to the public at 12 noon, and at this time the judging for Best in Show vehicle entries will commence, competing for $3,000 in cash prizes. There will be 11 categories this year; three new trophies have been added for Best Custom and Best Original in the class of Step-Thru Motorcycle [e.g. Yamaha V50/V80, Suzuki RC100, Honda Cub etc], as well as Best Custom for Modern Automobile. Other categories include Moped, Scooter, Motorcycle, and Auto. We are expecting 30 immaculate, show condition, cars to join the 300 custom and classic motorcycles.
“Entertainment, dancers and vendors will add a festival vibe throughout the day – more than 30 display tents will offer products and services from local auto and motorcycle businesses. A highly anticipated feature of the show will be the new and improved “Eco Drive” auto show and charity ride section, sponsored by OneComm. This area will display the latest and greatest EVs in Bermuda, from kick scooters to motorcycles to cars.
“A barricaded section of Front Street, the Action Arena, will be set aside for rider demonstrations and skill showcases from local pedal bike and motorsports clubs. Professional photographers and videographers will be on hand to capture the action, and household name entertainer Mr Fotogenik will be adding his own brand of fun to the day!
“The customary award presentations for Best in Show entries will take place at 16:30, and this year the motorcade will depart once the show closes at 17:15. There will be a big fanfare on Front Street to close the show, and at this point the motorcade of 300 riders will head off towards St George’s, stopping for ginger beer when they arrive. After the drink stop, riders will have the option to head directly home or follow the Police escort back to Hamilton to end their day as they please.”
Mr Cahill added: “We have been inundated with overwhelming early support for Motor Fest, and Premium Sponsors for this year’s festival include Scooter Mart, OneComm, Greenlight, Auto Solutions, Robbie’s Graphic Designs, Horizon, Freisenbruch-Meyer, Autobahn and Current Works. There are still a handful of sponsorship opportunities available, although at this stage we have nearly filled Front Street with displays!”
“15% of ticket sales go directly to registered charity Greenrock, and 5% supports the Long Riders Motorcycle Club who will be marshaling the ride, and dedicate their attention to preserving and showcasing our colourful motoring culture. Tickets are available at the Scooter Mart showroom in Hamilton for $39, or online at bermudacharge.com and ptix.bm. Tickets include a welcome pack and logo bandana, as well as entry for Best in Show and the charity ride.”
