Actively Working With Agencies, Industry, OTs
“We are actively working with departments and agencies across government, with industry, and Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories to enforce sanctions against Russia,” the Parliamentary Under-Secretary for the British Department for Transport said.
The UK joins numerous other allies around the world such as the US, Canada, Switzerland and the EU in imposing the sweeping sanctions against Russia following their invasion of Ukraine, and the UK sanctions are applicable in Bermuda as we are an Overseas Territory.
During the British Parliament’s session on May 17th, Conservative MP Matthew Offord asked the Secretary of State for Transport, “what steps his Department is taking to identify Russian-owned aircraft and ships located in the UK.”
In response, Parliamentary Under-Secretary, Department for Transport, Robert Courts said, “We are actively working with departments and agencies across government, with industry, and Crown Dependencies and Overseas Territories, to enforce sanctions against Russia – including the identification of Russian-owned aircraft and ships.”
