the plp are playing games with the numbers to say that the rental market wieghs heavy on the COL index is smoke and mirrors. to say our cost of living is under 3% is laughable . He stated that food had inceased 9% so if your rent didnt go up for the last 2 years but food went up 9% in the last year the plp want you to belive the cost of living went up 2% they really think we are stupid

Maybe you simply do not understand the numbers and how they are calculated. Food is 6% while rents is 26% weighted. This means food prices could increase 100% and the CPI would only increase by 6%.
That said most people consider their disposable income to be the true measure of their cost of living. People spend most of their disposable income on food and that is something that should be accurately reported.
Presumably this explains how the Premier/MoF can say domestic gas prices haven’t risen for 3 months so this controls the inflation rate. Clearly not the case as the weighting for local gas is miniscule, and not 26%. Very worrying when a MoF is so out of touch with facts and realty.
He merely parroted the same nonsense coming from the Premier. They are clearly completely out of touch with realty and he confirmed they are incompetent. Example = Bermuda’s inflation is less than the USA because of rents”. Scary that these are the people running Bermuda. Painful to listen to how he responded to questions.
