Jon Beard, the chairman of the Bermuda Island Games Association, and secretary Juanita Blee have been in Guernsey for the annual meeting of the International Island Games.
The pair joined officials from the 23-member islands in touring the island in the English Channel, visiting the facilities that will host the various sports and programmes when the Games are held next summer.
Bermuda is planning to send a 100-strong team to the biennial event, which will run from July 8 to 14.
Blee, who represented Bermuda in volleyball at the Island Games in 2003, held in Guernsey, said: “I’m sure that those who competed in 2003 have great memories of the competition.
“The facilities then were excellent, and they still are. Guernsey is a beautiful island with friendly people – very much like Bermuda! The organisers will indeed put on a tremendous Games.”
At the recent annual meeting, the Maltese island of Gozo had their application to join the 23-member Association accepted and will compete in the Games next summer.
