Confirmed Case Of Monkeypox In Bermuda
The Ministry of Health confirmed that “Bermuda is today reporting its first confirmed case of monkeypox.”
“For reasons of confidentiality, the person cannot be identified. However, the patient is in isolation, and the Ministry of Health is investigating potential close contacts and will notify anyone who may have been exposed,” a Government spokesperson said.
Acting Minister of Health, Jason Hayward said, “Monkeypox is rare, not life-threatening and Bermuda is well prepared to detect the disease and take suitable public health measures to prevent its spread.
“The Ministry of Health has provided guidance for primary care providers and the Bermuda Molecular Diagnostics and Research Laboratory [MDL] lab on sample handling. The Hospital also has appropriate isolation facilities to support treatment.
“The Ministry is also working with the Caribbean Public Health Agency [CARPHA], the Pan American Health Organization [PAHO] and the UK Health Security Agency [UKHSA]. Our port health officials know how to screen and recognize possible cases and take appropriate action. Our healthcare professionals know how to identify, immediately isolate, and report cases to local and regional health authorities.”
A spokesperson added, “Monkeypox is a rare infection that’s mainly found in parts of west or central Africa [often near rainforests but increasingly in some urban areas as well]. It may take between 5 and 21 days for the first symptoms to appear. Usually, the virus causes flu-like symptoms: fever, chills, rash and lesions on the face or genitals. Most people recover within several weeks without requiring hospitalization.
“If you suspect you have caught or been exposed to monkeypox, you must call your doctor or the Communicable Disease Clinic on 278-6442. More information on monkeypox is attached. [FAQs]”

As predicted right on schedule.. And they will be declaring it a world wide plandemic soon.
I’m pretty sure I know how to avoid catching this one though.
…same way you prevent HIV?
What next. SMH
So much for the TAF. Can’t keep out Covid, now can’t keep out Monkeypox, but keep on paying the $40 tax, but for who’s benefit? Clearly not Bermuda’s.
Monkeypox tax coming soon
I think we all know exactly who benefits.
Covid 19, Monkeypox, O’boy it’s a crime to be sick. Let’s get how many people have high blood pressure, headaches, diarrhea, stomach aches, pink eye, bronchitis, asthma, depression and so on everyday to keep the dumb people in fear of each other.
The whole island suffers from homophobia and racism, is there a shot for that?
Sadly those are terminal.
So instead of being clandestine, how about they tell us what flight and whatever date it was imported?
Clandestine? Really? Will you now authorise the PLP Government to publish your confidential medical history?
The symptoms are usually mild and clear up in a few weeks.
But “just in case” let’s make everyone panic about it and convince the sheeple that it is far more serious than it really is.
These responses sound like they are from bitter and angry children.
Agreed…
how the heck you get monkeypox for heaven’s sake? its only from bodily contact. did this person roll around with an infected diseased person covered in monkey pox warts?? good grief.
Yeah you know why because we are sick of the fear mongering and the sheeple that enable our governments to have the power to keep us this way . Just another world coordinated plandemic on the way
So, how would you feel if governments ignored a public health crisis?
Would you be quiet? Or would you demand that something must be done?
Think carefully.
