BTA: Tracy Berkeley Continues As Interim CEO

August 11, 2022

Following reports from an overseas travel trade publication stating that Tracy Berkeley has been appointed the BTA CEO, the BTA said that “contrary to the headline,” Tracy Berkeley “continues to serve as interim CEO for the Bermuda Tourism Authority.”

Bernews asked the BTA for comment about the article on the website, which is a major trade publication, and a spokesperson said, “Contrary to the headline in a recent international travel trade publication, Tracy Berkeley continues to serve as interim CEO for the Bermuda Tourism Authority.”

The article on the major trade website was removed a short while ago, however another version remains online on a lesser known site, with that version containing what are at least two errors in general.

In June of this year, the BTA Board announced “the departure of Charles Jeffers as CEO of the BTA,” and said that Tracy Berkeley has “replaced him as interim CEO and plans are in motion for a permanent replacement.”

This does not bode well for Ms Berkley.

But then again, being named CEO of the BTA since the PLP Government changed the law to assert control over the BTA does not bode well for anyone’s job security.
