Concacaf U15 Girls: Martinique Defeat Bermuda

The Bermuda Under 15 Girls Football Team lost to Martinique 1-0 in their first match of 2022 Concacaf Under-15 Girls’ Championships in Tampa, Florida.

The Concacaf report said, “The 2022 Concacaf Girls’ Under-15 Championship kicked off this Sunday at the Hillsborough County Tournament Sportsplex in Tampa, Florida, with Belize and US Virgin Islands among the winners on the day in League B.

“On the strength of an Asia Flores brace, Belize picked up their first three points in Group C with a 3-1 victory over Anguilla, while Martinique edged Bermuda 1-0 in a very tight affair on an Eden Dincuff score in Group C as well.

“The USVI were big winners in a 7-1 final versus Bahamas to open Group D, courtesy of a five-goal performance from Gabriella Quezada, while a strong defensive performance and a Bindiya Wadhwani goal enabled Aruba to pocket a 1-0 victory against Honduras in Group D.

“The lone draw of the day came in Group E in which Guyana and Turks and Caicos Islands played to an exciting 2-2 draw. Jayda Schoburgh supplied both goals for Guyana and was matched by Rosaria Talbot, who scored both Turks and Caicos Islands goals.

“Group E also saw Nicaragua rise to the stop of the table thanks to a 5-0 win over Cayman Islands, with Aneth Lopez leading the way with two goals.

“Monday will see League A get underway, including reigning champions the United States in action in Group B against Puerto Rico. The day in Group B will begin with Canada taking on Jamaica.

“2018 U15 Girls Championship runners-up Mexico will also make their tournament debut in Group A versus invited nation Wales, while Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic will lock horns in Group A’s other game.

“League B will continue on Monday, as Anguilla and Bermuda face off in Group C with each team seeking their first win. Meanwhile, Belize will meet Martinique in the battle of Group C unbeatens.

“USVI will try to continue their high-flying ways in Group D against Honduras, while Aruba will be out for a second straight win against Bahamas.

“Rounding out the action will be Group E where Turks and Caicos Islands will try to slow down Nicaragua, followed by Guyana and Cayman Islands.“
