Rider Injured In Motorcycle & Bus Collision
A male motorcycle rider was taken to hospital after a collision involving a bus and a motorcycle in the west end this evening.
A police spokesperson said, “Around 6:20pm, police and other first responders were dispatched to a report of a two vehicle collision at the junction of Middle Road and South Road Southampton [Barnes Corner]. The collision involved a public bus and a motorcycle.
“Initial enquires suggest that the bus was attempting to exit the South Road junction heading east on Middle Road, and the motorcycle was also traveling east on Middle Road when the collision occurred.
“The male motorcycle rider is believed to have sustained a head injury and was conveyed to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment. The male bus driver was not reported to be injured.
“There were no passengers on the bus at the time of the collision.
“Traffic is being diverted at the Middle Road /South Road junction and the Church Road/Middle Road junction.
“Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact police constable Melissa Butler via email mbutler@bps.bm or call 211.
“This is the second serious collision that emergency services have had to respond to, in less than six hours. We are urging the motoring public to slow down.”
