Photos & Video: 21-Rifle Salute For The Queen
[Updated with photos] The Royal Bermuda Regiment [RBR] performed a 21-rifle salute today [Sept 9] in honour of Queen Elizabeth II.
Queen Elizabeth II, the UK’s longest-serving monarch, died yesterday [Sept 8] aged 96 at Balmoral Castle in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, ending her 70 year reign.
Government House posted the photos below online, saying, “Today, a hush of silence came across the grounds of Government House.
“With the flag lowered to half-mast, Her Excellency the Governor along with members of the public and her family marked the passing of Queen Elizabeth II with a 21-rifle salute. The salute was staged by the Royal Bermuda Regiment at Government House.
“For those who wish to leave messages, a Book of Condolence will be available at Government House between 2 pm to 4 pm today Friday, September 9th and then from 10 am to 4 pm starting on Monday, September 12th until Friday, September 16th.”
Worse display I have ever seen in 73 years.
‘fire’ the lot.
Could someone explain why a 21 gun salute? Around the world the gun salutes were 96, for each year of her life. Can’t Bermuda afford the extra ammunition?
