Minister Welcomes Attendees To Conference
Minister of Labour and Economy Jason Hayward delivered welcome remarks on behalf of the Bermuda Government at the 2022 Bermuda Captive Conference.
Minister Hayward said, “It is my pleasure to bring you a warm welcome from the Government of Bermuda. I want to start by thanking the Delegates, speakers and Conference organizers for taking part in and organizing the Bermuda Captive Conference.
“I am pleased to see so many attendees in the room at today’s meeting in person after having spent the last three years making full use of technology to maintain the continuity of business.
“The Ministry of Economy and Labour has the responsibility for facilitating economic growth and Development. Ensuring that Bermuda’s business ecosystem is one that allows businesses to thrive.
“As the Minister responsible for Economy and Labour, I am pleased to be here with you today to officially welcome you to this years’ Bermuda Captive Conference titled ‘FUSION’.
“It is my sincere hope that the collaborative work taking place during this conference will promote the combination of collective experience, commitment to excellence, and a vision for the future that shall ensure the sustainability of this jurisdiction remaining as a world leader in risk management and fiscal prudence.
“On behalf of the Government of Bermuda, please accept our congratulations on commemorating 60 years of industry service.
“The continued pursuit of excellence and innovation has served to provide opportunities for so many Bermudians who have gained exposure to an exciting and ever-changing industry.
“The newly launched Bermuda Captive Network is a great opportunity to strengthen the connection amongst members to ensure the momentum amongst businesses and partners is sustained and will continue to produce successful outcomes. The organization’s mission to influence and be at the forefront of innovation and growth is one that is supported by the Government.
“Bermuda’s Captive Industry has been resilient and is the cornerstone of our current international business sector. Captives, key risk management tools that are diverse in nature, support many other business activities in our community, such as legal services, financial intermediation services, and insurance management services.
“It is Bermuda’s aim to remain an industry leader for captives, as we incorporated the first modern captive and our regulatory framework has involved adopting a pragmatic and flexible approach to regulation.
“Yesterday you heard from a panellist that Bermuda is the best place in the world to domicile your insurance business. Today I simply want to echo that sentiment, there is no better place on earth to put your capital to work. The sophistication of the Bermuda market continues to attract capital from throughout the world.
