Bermuda’s Nia Christopher had a spectacular showing for her Towson University women’s soccer team, scoring five goals which sets a new record for the most goals in a single game in the program history.

The school’s match report said, “The Towson University women’s soccer team cruised to a 7-0 win against Delaware State for their fifth straight win on Tuesday.

“Towson [6-1-1] got a five-goal performance from Nia Christopher that included a goal in the fourth minute of play. Her five goals was the most in a single game in program history. That set the tone for the rest of the match in a 7-0 win against Delaware State [0-9].

“The Tigers improved their win streak to five games and are undefeated in their last six with five shutouts.

“Nia Christopher started the scoring early with a goal in the fourth minute. Christopher took a through ball from Phoebe Canoles to give Towson a 1-0 lead.

“Christopher struck again just minutes later, once again taking a Canoles pass to make it 2-0 in the 19th minute. Christopher would cap the half with her third of the game in the 27th minute, this time from Demi Pierre to put the Tigers up 4-0 at the break.

“Towson would not stop there, as Christopher scored just 19 seconds into the second half for her fourth goal of the game. She capped her outstanding match with her fifth of the day, taking a rebound off a Canoles shot in the 52nd minute.

“Christopher moved into sole possession of sixth place all-time in goals with 22. She is now just one back of tying fifth place.”
