Tenderloins, Pineapples, Potato Prices Up

The cost of tenderloins went up 18.9% while tomatoes and broccoli went up 9.3% on a year to year basis, and on a month to month basis, the average cost of pineapples increased by 21.2%, and potatoes went up 11.4%.

This is according to the recently released June Consumer Price Index which said that on an overall month to month basis the food sector edged up 2% for the month, while an annual basic food sector prices rose 8%.

As far as year to year food prices, the report said, “Food sector prices rose 8.0 per cent annually. On average, increases were reported in the cost of tenderloins [+18.9 per cent], frozen entrees [+18.4 per cent], tomatoes and broccoli [+9.3 per cent] and food purchased in restaurants [+6.3 per cent].”

Looking at food prices on a month to month basis, the report said, “The Food sector edged up 2.0 per cent for the month. Increases were reported in the average cost of pineapples [+21.2 per cent], potatoes [+11.4 per cent], frozen entrees [+5.4 per cent] and food purchased in restaurants [+3.0 per cent].”
