Renee Ming To Run For PLP Deputy Leader
Renee Ming has informed her party colleagues of her “intention to run for the position of Deputy Leader,” a position that is currently held by Walter Roban.
In a letter sent to Caucus colleagues, she said, “I write to advise you that I have written to the Party Leader and made him aware of my intention to run for the position of Deputy Leader of Party Leader at the upcoming Annual General Conference.
“In addition, I have sent correspondence to the Secretary-General per our constitution, advising her of my intention. I asked that all Branch chairpersons, members, parliamentarians and delegates be made aware of such as I hope to meet with each of them in the next few weeks.”
This follows after it was confirmed that Curtis Dickinson will challenge the current PLP Leader David Burt, and the selections are due to be made at the PLP delegates conferences next month.
Both Ms Ming and Mr Dickinson previously served as Cabinet Ministers, with both leaving the positions earlier this year, and both Premier Burt and Deputy Premier Roban have held their positions since prior to the PLP returning as the governing party in the 2017 General Election.
